Babysitting is a work that includes caring for the children on behalf of the child’s parents, when they are out. In other words, babysitting is to take fully responsibilities for a baby. Babysitting is commonly done by the teenagers as a part-time job for extra money. The sitting is generally contracted one night at a time.
The term ‘baby-sit’ was appeared first in the year 1937, it is a ‘baby’ and ‘sit’ means an agent or a person. And the word ‘sitter’ was later introduced in the year 1937.
The word ‘baby-sit’ is derived by an act of ‘sitting with’ by the caretaker in absence of the parents, when the parents are busy.
In case of children, you have to be safety conscious. Children are great responsibilities, and by doing that, you can prevent many safety hazards. Houses can turn as a dangerous place for kids, if not looked properly. For instance, one must have stair gates and covers for plug sockets.
The safest and easiest way to keep babies is just to supervise them and as you see any problem arising, just step and try to avoid it. To secure the house by all means is an impossible task for everyone, but by just keeping watch on the child, you can prevent the bad things to happen. Prevention is better than cure and therefore, most of the safety ways come by prevention. Your main motto is to prevent the accident to occur.
There are many ways to keep the safety and few of the most important factors are described below…
- Kids become over excited and play carelessly; this is the time you must try to keep the baby calm.
- Don’t allow a child to play with pointed or sharp things such as knife, needle, scissor, etc. Don’t either allow them to play with very small things, as they can put that into their nose, ear or mouth.
- After your preparation of the food, don’t keep the saucepan’s handle facing in front, it may happen that, baby may pull the handle of the pan and hence, one should turn the handle towards the wall.
- Whenever you prepare a hot drinks such as tea or coffee for you, keep it out of the reach of the baby and keep the kettle back to its work place. As children pulls the cups or that hot vessel on themselves and it gives rise to a big burning accident.
- Lighters, match-boxes and medicines must be kept out of reach of children.
- Children like to push each other while playing; don’t allow them to do so. Stop them by jumping off sofas and beds, to slide on the railings of the staircase and on slippery floors.
- Children are having habit to harass the pets like dog or cat. Do not allow them to do so, it may happen, that calm and docile of pets can become angry and act accordingly.
- While feeding them food and drinks, don’t allow children to talk or run as they can choke their trachea by food or liquid due to over excitement. You must know how to tackle this situation, how to make the air passage free. For this, you must go through Heimlich maneuver before you perform the medical aid. This is simple and quick and can save the life.
